Spring 2024 ATP Update!
Alaska schools are now hiring for the 2024-25 school
year, and Alaska Teachers & Personnel staff are
busy preparing
for the Anchorage Educator Expo on March 1, 2024! Free
Anchorage
job
fair registration for job seekers is open, and
full details are available on our Job
Fairs
page. The Teacher Recruitment & Retention
Convening (TRRC)
meetings are also scheduled for February 29 - March 1, and registration
for that is open to district staff and organizations only.
As the days get longer, we are once again visiting Lower 48
job fairs and college campuses to help candidates connect
with the Alaska districts that have jobs. As of
January 25, 2024, districts have over 375 open teacher
and school administration jobs for the school year
starting in August. Many more positions are being posted
daily, so check back often!
ATP's Spring campus visits are currently in process in the
Lower 48 states, so if you are curious about working
& living in Alaska, check our schedule below for a
chance to learn more, and talk to educators about the
opportunities in our five very different regions in person.
As always, open jobs for over 54 Alaska school districts
and other education-related employers are updated daily on
our statewide Applitrack
Job
Bank system. Registration and all services for job
candidates are, also as always, 100% free!
If you are a university Career Services staff member, contact us to
see if we can arrange a visit YOUR campus.

Ever Thought About Substitute
Teaching in Alaska? - Adventure
Calls!
If you are a retired teacher, between teaching jobs, or just
finishing your teacher certification program, and are flexible
with your plans, Alaska now keeps a list of substitute
teachers available on short notice for the 2022-23 school year
and beyond. Unexpected openings happen every school year
due to teacher illnesses, pregnancies, family emergencies and
so on. ATP tries to help by keeping a ready list of
substitutes separate from the normal Applitrack job bank.
Some positions are Short-term Substitute (STS) positions for
just a few weeks, while others are Long-term Substitute (LTS)
positions that might be a month or a semester in length. This
is not only a great way to keep your teaching skills sharp, or
practice newly acquired skills, but it's also a great way to
see some of the most unique villages left in North America
while getting paid, and making yourself known to district
leadership staff. Substitutes often earn the support of a
thankful school district, and get called back regularly for
temporary duty.
If you are interested in being considered, this form gets you
set up and "on the list"! Questions? Contact Toni at
tlmcfadden@alaska.edu.

Don't forget to make sure your ATP Applitrack is active and
updated on our site, as ATP wants districts to be able to
quickly reference your resume and supporting
documentation. Districts will contact Substitute List
candidates directly.
Student Teaching in Alaska? -
The Experience of a Lifetime!
If you are finishing your pre-service teacher preparation or
certification program, but still have to complete your
internship, practice teaching or student teaching, you may
want to consider doing so in Alaska.
You can use the ATP website to learn about the
very
different regions of Alaska, and about
living
and
working
here. Alaska rural school districts
are especially interested in hosting student teachers in their
schools, and are willing to work with your university to
collaborate on innovate supervision arrangements. In
fact, many districts offer housing assistance, travel
arrangements from your location to their communities, and
sometimes even a small cost of living stipend.
Please contact Toni McFadden at
uaf-atp@alaska.edu with
any questions regarding Alaska student teaching opportunities.
